Patagonia- Save the Sharks Campaign
What is the "Save the Sharks" Campaign?
For this project, my group and I decided to make a “save the sharks” campaign with Patagonia. Patagonia is a very eco-concious company that sells athletic and outdoorsy clothing. Patagonia spends its time raising awareness about environmental problems, making the perfect brand to collaborate with for this project. With these cluster of advertisements, we want to raise awareness about the need to help save sharks. Sharks get hunted and killed for food and for fun, we believe that this needs to be stopped. We hope by working with Patagonia we can raise awareness to this problem and get people to look into sharks more.
We went with a photography route for these advertisements. We were able to get a hold of a bull shark jaw that is used as wall decor and took it to the beach, Siesta Key, for the photoshoot. We additionally went to Vilano Beach and took some images there of shells. We created a campaign logo that consists of the phrase “save the sharks” and a shark fin poking out of illustrated waves. Once the images were taken and logo created, we went through a process of placements of the advertisement and figuring out what spot was best for the logos. Eventually, we got the idea of incorporating a illustrative shark jaw as a frame in our advertisement.
